Thomas Silberhorn

Dr. Thomas Silberhorn

Owner and Chief of Staff

A graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Thomas Silberhorn received his DVM degree in 1971. As a student at Iowa State, Dr. Silberhorn excelled in both his clinical as well as his academic courses. For four years, he was a member of Phi Zeta and Sigma Delta, the Veterinary Honor Societies. After veterinary school, Dr. Silberhorn completed a surgical internship at Purdue University in Indiana.

Dr. Silberhorn has deep roots in the Norton community. As a veterinarian for more than 40 years, he has spent all but 3 at Norton Animal Hospital. Along with his veterinary career, Dr. Silberhorn has served on the Board of Directors of the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce and the Church Council of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Some of Dr. Silberhorn’s veterinary interests include behavior, exotic animal medicine, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, advanced dentistry, and complementary and alternative medicine. He has attended and completed several advanced education courses in these fields.

Dr. Silberhorn is married to Nichole, and together they have 3 children (Christian, Andrew, and Khelsey), and 6 cats. His hobbies include landscaping, gardening, photography, kayaking, hiking and scuba diving. Most of all, he particularly enjoys traveling with his family.

Dr. Shawna Li

Dr. Shawna Li

Born and raised in Montana, Dr. Shawna Li moved to Massachusetts to pursue her undergraduate degree in biology at Harvard University. Graduating from that prestigious university in 1993, Dr. Li later earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. She then remained at Tufts for one more year to complete an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery. She joined the staff as an associate veterinarian in October 2004.

Dr. Li has been volunteering her time and working professionally with animals since 1998. Some of the places she’s helped animals include the New England Aquarium, the animal hospital at the Franklin Park Zoo, and Tufts University Large Animal Hospital. She has a professional interest in small animal medicine and surgery.

During her time off from the hospital, Dr. Li enjoys reading, cooking, sewing and traveling.

Dr. Amy Richards

Dr. Amy Richards graduated in 1989 from Cornell University with a B.S. Degree in Animal Science. After college graduation, Dr. Richards remained at Cornell where she attended veterinary school. During her 4 years in veterinary school, she was recognized for her academic accomplishments and received the Cornell National Scholar Award. Dr. Richards graduated and received her DVM degree from Cornell University (New York State College of Veterinary Medicine) Veterinary School in 1993.

After veterinary school, Dr. Richards completed an internship at the Veterinary Institute of Trauma, Emergency and Critical Care. Emergency veterinary medicine has always been one of her professional interests. She has been an associate veterinarian at Norton Animal Hospital since 1997.

During her free time, Dr. Richards enjoys hiking, gardening, cooking, and traveling. She is married and has 2 daughters, Elsa and Lauren. She is owned by a very affectionate kitty named Newton and a mixed breed dog, Rocket.

Dr. Kristin Miller

Dr. Kristin Miller

Dr. Kristin Miller received her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH in 2000. She continued her schooling at the University of Wisconsin at Madison where she received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Returning to New England, Dr. Miller completed an internship in emergency and internal medicine at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital in Weymouth, MA. She received an award of recognition of her community service work at the Quincy Animal Shelter. She has been an associate veterinarian at Norton Animal Hospital since 2005. Outside of the animal hospital, Dr. Miller and her husband, Jamie, are raising 3 children – Adeline, Birch, and Keira. They share their home with 3 companions: Isabelle, a Labrador Mix, and 2 cats, Harley and Mack. They also keep backyard chickens. Dr. Miller enjoys knitting, gardening, and chasing her children around.
